Sex down under

The Hollywood actor with the most pornstar-like name has been named People's 2008 Sexiest Man Alive.

Hugh Jackman
, star of the upcoming "Australia," will be featured on the cover of this week's mag, which hits stands Friday.

The 6-foot-2 Wolverine likes to sing and make pancakes at his home, his wife of 12 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, told the magazine. Hmm... that kinda makes him seem a little less bad-ass.

Jackman beat out a number of hunks to win the sexy title. People gave us a sneak preview of the runners up before Friday's issue is out, including Daniel Craig, Twilight's Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron and Michael Phelps (um, are they just looking at pictures of his body?).

There were also a few blasts from the past, namely Mark-Paul Gosselaar and ex-Dawson Creek-er Joshua Jackson, who have both reinvented themselves in primetime dramas "Raising the Bar" and "Fringe," respectively. Hey, what about Mario Lopez?

Who else can we expect? Guess we'll have to wait for the issue to come out, but I'm hoping to see Chase Crawford (left, Nate, "Gossip Girl"), Ryan Kwaten (Jason, "True Blood") and of course, Bret Michaels! haaaa

D-d-d-did you watch it?

If a glowing piece of the radical rock was something you dreamed of when you were younger, Nickelodeon is giving you another chance to make that dream come true.

"My Family's Got GUTS,"
a family version of the popular 1990s game show, premiered tonight on Nick. Contestants compete in events similar to the original GUTS, including the basketball "Sky Slam," a football throwing competition and a soccer ball scoring battle.

And of course, we get a glimps of the trademark Aggro Crag - intimidating as ever.

The show will run weeknights at 8 p.m. starting tonight (Monday) until Friday, Sept. 26. The series is comprised of two, 11-episode tournaments, each of which includes an hour-long finale and a half-hour special. This season's finale will air Saturday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m.

Unfortunately, MFGG took a backseat to tonight's episode of "Gossip Girl" (my crack in television form), but I did manage to catch a few minutes of it during CW commercial breaks...

Props to Nickelodeon for revitalizing one of the greatest shows in the station's history--especially amidst a period of what I consider comparatively lackluster children's programming--but nothing is ever going to live up to the good ole' GUTS days.

This new host, Ben Lyons, can't hold a candle to Michael O'Malley's enthusiasm (and oddly enough Lyons is the new host of the popular critic show "At the Movies"). And Nickelodeon actually had the audacity to bring in a judge with a funny accent who's not Moira Quirk ("Let's go to Mo - MO!").

Maybe I'm just hating a little bit because my family is too old to go on the show now, as is likely the case for most of the original GUTS viewing audience. Watch the clip below. Seriously - how badly did you want to go on this show when you were younger? I remember screaming at the stupid kids who missed an actuator and yelling about how badly I would own them if only I were given the opportunity to try out...

Thanks, Dave!

It's only 'Nat'ural

Even though I'm eating some of my words about former "90210" cast members not returning for the new season, I will not take back my 'this show will suck' sentiment.

It just might suck a little less because Joe E. Tata, better known as the Peach Pit's Nat, will be returning for the series this fall. Well, at least for one episode.

The CW will air a spinoff of the original, this time centered around the Mills family. It seems like a carbon copy with a minority character thrown in here or there, and it will likely bomb. Click here to watch a preview.

Also returning is Jennie Garth, who will be playing Kelly Taylor as a high school guidance counselor. (And you know what I just realized? Why are the hot girls in television shows always named Kelly? Taylor, Kapowski, Bundy...?)

Tori Spelling is said to be returning for at least one episode as Donna Martin, and rumor has it Shannon Doherty, or Brenda Walsh, miiight be coming back, yes!

9021Oh noo.....

Thanks to a quick commercial in the middle of tonight's season finale of "Gossip Girl" (and a heads up from my friend, Jackie), I have learned of the CW's intention to make a 90210 spinoff.

When I first heard about the reinvention of one of my favorite teenage dramas, I was like totally stoked, but after learning of the show's intended plotline, it is not looking so good in the upscale neighborhood.

This spinoff, which is set to premiere in the fall, is based around the Mills family (reminiscent of The Walshes), who have moved from St. Louis to Beverly Hills and are adjusting to the scenery.

According to E! News
, there's Harry Mills (aka the Jim Walsh of the series)and his wife Celia (aka Cindy Walsh) and the couple's biological daughter, Annie--who much like Brenda Walsh--is into acting and alternative music and longs to fit into the cool crowd at school.

But in order to differentiate from the original series, the Mills don't have twins--they instead have Dixon, an adopted son who's the same age as Annie and was taken in by her family six years earlier. And apparently the show is looking to cast a minority actor in the role in order to more accurately depict California than its predecessor's completely whitebread cast.

And while there are Andrea Zuckerman and David and Donna-like characters, none of the original cast will be featured in the show. E! reports, however, that both Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering have said that they would participate if asked.

This...yeah. Not so good. I doubt CW will strike gold as they have with "Gossip Girl" (which is seriously one of the best shows on television these days), but I will probably end up checking this out...if nothing else, but to see what The Peach Pit looks like and if Nat is still alive.

For a taste of retro 90210, watch the show's intro below. Gotta love those good times on the beach.

Don't forget 'Sarah Marshall'

I'm too exhausted to write an eloquent--or witty--movie review, so instead I'll just tell you that I saw "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" this weekend and it was hilarious. If you liked "Knocked Up," "Superbad" and/or "40-Year-Old Virgin," you're good to go.

Good writing. Lots of humor. Good story. Lots of sexual content. And straight boys, beware--there are more P shots than V or T shots in this movie. But Mila Kunis is gorgeous and I guess that Veronica Mars chick is okay, too.

Here's a clip to whet your whistle, sans nudity.

Models, models, we all fall down!

WARNING: SPOILERS

Last night's America's Next Top Model finale crowned the ninth winner of the modeling competition, but in its wake, a slew of controversy.

The final three--Chantal, Saleisha and Jenah--participated in the customary Cover Girl commercial, this time for CG's new Wetslick Fruit Spritzers. Try saying that three times fast, because none of the girls could even say it once.

Though they all looked gorgeous, the commercial takes were disastorous. Chantal, who took on the role of "Lemon Splash," looked like she actually took a bite out of a lemon with her left all all squinty and awkward looking. Jenah took the Jael approach and looked like she was mocking the Cover Girl image, which definitely didn't get by Tyra at the judging panel.

Going into judging, there was no clear frontrunner, but Jenah completely fell apart and her cynical criticism of models who "spew rainbows incessantly" sent her packing, which left the blond Barbie doll Chantal and the Rhianna look-a-like Saleisha to duke it out in a Chinese fashion show.

There has never been a final performance more awkward than Chantal tripping up the stilted background dancer and landing him straight on his ass with a 'THPLUNK'--yes, that's the noise he made [watch the clip]. Her already stunted energy completely deflated and Saleisha stomped all over her in the runway challenge.

The judging panel was odd: Instead of running through and comparing a number of photos throughout the competition, only three were selected (probably because neither of them were very photogenically strong, unlike Jenah or Heather). The main debate was Saleisha being too commercial versus Chantal being too amateur, and in the end, Tyra and company selected Saleisha as America's Next Top Model, cycle 9. She was awarded a $100,000 contract with Elite Model Management and a spread in Seventeen Magazine, and she proceded to jump around like a little kid on Christmas morning.

Now for the juicy stuff...

In casting, Tyra noted that Saleisha had attended Tyra's T-Zone Camp as a young girl, and it was clear that Saleisha had more modeling experience than most of the other girls. What was left out was Saleisha's had recently participated in a national campaign and starred in a fashion show on the Tyra show.

According to ANTM rules, contestants "must not have previous experience as a model in a national campaign within the last five years (including, but not limited to, appearances on television and print advertisements)." Though she has no speaking role in it, Saleisha appears in a Wendy's television ad that some of you may remember, mostly because it's only like a year old.

And if that's not shoddy enough for you, check out this video from Tyra's talk show. It's a fashion show for Rami Kashou (yes, that's Ramo from Project Runway, more shifty-ness there, ehem). This show as a whole is really creepy, from the music to Tyra seductively moving with the models, but fast forward to about 3:50 if you're just interested in Saleisha.

Yes, that's some shady business there, but between the two, Saleisha is a better model. Then again, maybe that's why she already had a career pre-ANTM.

booo BET and Black History, hooray blogging!

--This is one way to get people to read your blog...
I'm sure Tyra won't be offended at all.

^duuhhhhhh^

Safe to say she's one vacuous beauty? I think so.
