Afternoon delight at Starbs

Speaking of tanking economy (see below), Starbucks is trying to take itself off life support by offering a new promotion to help save company loyalists a few bucks.

The "Treat Receipt" program allows Starbucks customers to bring in their receipt from a purchase earlier in the day to receive any grande iced drink for $2 (beginning at 2 p.m.). The deal is good til Sept. 2

This is excellent news for people who are addicted to Starbucks enough to regularly purchase its overpriced drinks twice a day, but for the rest of us... Is this really going to push you to spend $4 on a small--sorry, "tall"--coffee at 8 a.m. just to get the reduced price Mocha Choca Latta Ya Ya in the afternoon? Mm, probably not. You'd essentially be paying $6 to get the latter.

Still, the company says it is responding to customer requests for nationwide promotions, and Starbucks fiends who can overlook the backward logic in this program will be happy to know that their morning receipt could save them $2.15 off a Mint Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino. Okay, well that one kind of sounds good enough to go for broke...

"Pork and Beans"

I don't have a lot of time to post, but I've described this video three different times in two days, so I figured I'd post it.

Weezer pays homage to the powerhouse celebrity-maker that is YouTube in their new video for "Pork and Beans." The video was added Friday and already has 3 million views! Viral video much?

Notables in the video include the brainless Miss South Carolina Caitlin Upton ("Everwhere, like, such as the Iraq), Chris Crocker ("LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE"), the Peanut Butter Jelly Time banana, Matt McAllister (the world record setter for most t-shirts worn), Will it Blend?, Numa Numa ("Mayaheee, mayahaha"), Tay Zonday ("Chocolate Rain"), Dramatic Chipmunk (or prairie dog) and Kelly the shoe girl... just to name a few.

Not as good as the old-time Weezer, but it's a catchy song...

I saw this video a few days ago and passed on posting it...but I was told yesterday that a local Philly radio station was playing this and making fun of it on the air and decided that I'd post it before it blew up and became the next "Chocolate Rain."

I'm not quite sure what the deal is with these guys, but the video sticks true to its name: "Worst Rap Battle Ever." Enjoy!

Chester Cheeto going pink

New on the shelves of Tokyo food stores is Frito Lay's newest creation: Strawberry Cheetos.

And no, they're not strawberry puffs; they are actual Cheetos covered in some sort of strawberry chocolate-ish coating. They also make them in straight up chocolate flavor.

I...don't know about this. But if anyone has tried them, by all means, let me know how they are. I mean, I hate Cheetos because they make your hands messy, but these seem a bit more pristine, right?

Pristine and horrendously vomit-worthy.
